UK’s Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has announced that UK residents can leave the country for the first time in months from 17 May, allowing them to go on foreign holidays to green list countries.
On Friday, 12 countries and territories have been added to the green list, meaning anyone returning from these countries will not need to quarantine on arrival.
However, they will need to take a PCR test up to 72 hours before departure and a single PCR test before arriving in England.
Full list of countries and territories that would appear on the ‘green list’:
- Portugal
- Israel
- Singapore
- Australia
- New Zealand
- Brunei
- Iceland
- Gibraltar
- Falkland Islands
- Faroe Islands
- South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands
- St Helena, Tristan da Cunha, Ascension Island
Moreover, the Maldives, Nepal and Turkey will be added to the ‘red list’. This list will be reviewed every three weeks from 17 May.
