An Ethiopian Airlines flight veered off the runway at Alula Aba Nega International Airport in Mekelle on 16 July, resulting in minor injuries to two crew members.
The Bombardier DHC-8-400, registration ET-AUZ, was operating flight ET298 from Addis Ababa and had 49 people on board, including two children and crew members.
All passengers were safely evacuated following the incident.
In a statement released Monday evening, Ethiopian Airlines confirmed that flight ET298 encountered the runway excursion while taxiing in rainy weather conditions. The airline added that the safety of all passengers was ensured and that the situation was managed in accordance with standard emergency protocols.
