Emergency response crews were deployed on high alert at London Heathrow Airport following an in-flight incident involving a domestic British Airways arrival from Edinburgh.

LONDON — Flight BA1459, operated by an Airbus A320 registered as G-EUUA, was on its final approach toward runway 27R when the flight crew aborted the landing sequence. The aircraft executed a go-around at approximately 3,000 feet altitude before climbing away to re-establish its approach.

Key Incident Timeline

  • Origin:Edinburgh Airport (EDI)
  • Destination:London Heathrow Airport (LHR), Terminal 5
  • Aircraft: Airbus A320-200 (G-EUUA)
  • Event:Aborted approach / Go-around at ~3,000 feet
  • Touchdown Time: 9:08 PM local time
  • Ground Status: Escorted by emergency vehicles to a remote stand

Runway Operations Temporarily Affected

Following the go-around, the crew safely brought the aircraft down on runway 27R at 9:08 PM.

As a precautionary measure, Heathrow Air Traffic Control temporarily shifted the airport into single-runway operations for several minutes directly after touchdown to ensure the airfield remained clear.
