Hawaiian Airlines disclosed on Thursday that it experienced a “cybersecurity event” affecting portions of its IT infrastructure.
A notice was posted on both the Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines websites; Alaska Airlines acquired Hawaiian last year.
“Our highest priority is the safety and security of our guests and employees,” the statement read. “We have taken steps to safeguard our operations, and our flights are operating safely and as scheduled.”
The airline did not specify which systems were affected or whether passenger data was compromised. It confirmed that appropriate authorities and cybersecurity experts have been engaged to support the investigation and remediation process. Updates will be shared on the airline’s website as the situation develops.
The Federal Aviation Administration said it is in contact with the airline and monitoring the situation. “There has been no impact on safety, and the airline continues to operate safely,” the agency noted.
