Law enforcement officers met an American Airlines flight upon its arrival at Miami International Airport late Friday night following reports of indecent behavior by a female passenger in mid-air.
MIAMI — American Airlines Flight AA1779, operated by an Airbus A319 (registration N737US), departed Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) at 8:45 p.m. EDT on Friday, September 11, 2026 nearly an hour and a half behind its scheduled 7:10 p.m. departure time.
The flight was cruising at an altitude of 38,000 feet when flight attendants alerted the cockpit crew to an escalating situation in the front right section of the cabin.
According to Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) logs transmitted during the flight, the flight’s lead attendant reported that a female passenger seated in row 9, had completely undressed herself and began engaging in explicit, indecent acts in full view of nearby passengers.

Despite the disruption, the aircraft continued to its destination without diverting, touching down safely at Miami International Airport (MIA) at 11:32 p.m. EDT. The plane taxied to Gate D2 in the airport’s North Terminal, where officers were waiting to board the aircraft and take the passenger into custody. Local authorities in Miami-Dade are currently investigating the incident.
