Iranian ballistic missile attack on Israel have prompted many airlines to reroute flights causing lots of diversions in Europe.
As Jordanian and Iraqi airspaces were closed during Iranian ballistic missile attack on Israel, airborne flights between Europe and the Middle East have either had to return to their origins or to divert.
Emirates flights between Europe and Dubai International Airport were the most affected Tuesday evening when Iraq closed its airspace at 17:35 UTC.
Following tonight’s airspace closures, Emirates has cancelled some flights and diverted others. We are closely monitoring the situation and are making all efforts to ensure minimal disruption to customers, while assisting those impacted. - EK16 from LGW to DXB diverted to Vienna (A380)
- EK2 from LHR to DXB diverted to Vienna (A380)
- EK18 from MAN to DXB diverted to Vienna (A380)
- EK50 from MUC to DXB diverted to Cairo (A380)
- EK56 from DUS to DXB diverted to Budapest (A380)
- EK158 from ARN to DXB diverted to Rhodes (B777)
- EK66 from STN to DXB diverted to Athens (B777)
- EK78 from NCE to DXB diverted to Budapest (A380)
This Wednesday, Emirates dispatchers will have headaches to manage all aircraft which diverted to Austria, Hungary, Greece and Egypt.
Lufthansa flights to Mumbai and Hyderabad and Dubai turned back to Frankfurt. Swiss’ flight between Zurich and Dubai diverted to Antalya. British Airways flight from London Heathrow to Dubai diverted to Larnaca. Qatar Airways flights were also affected as QR28 from Manchester.
Arrivals and departures from Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport in Israel were halted following the attack.
According to Flightradar24, 81 flights diverted, affecting 16 airlines and 26 airports.
