DUBAI, UAE – Operations at Dubai International Airport (DXB), one of the world’s busiest aviation hubs, are gradually resuming this afternoon after a targeted drone attack forced a temporary grounding of all flights.

The incident, which authorities have linked to Iranian forces, sent shockwaves through the region’s travel sector.

The Incident

Early reports indicate that the attack occurred in the vicinity of the airport’s main terminals. Eyewitnesses described hearing a “loud boom” followed by the sight of thick black smoke rising over the airfield.

Impact on Travelers

The suspension caused immediate delays and diversions for hundreds of flights. However, the disruption appears to have been short-lived. Airport officials have confirmed that the facility is once again operational, though they are urging travelers to remain vigilant.

Current Travel Guidelines:

  • Confirmed Bookings: Passengers with flights scheduled for this afternoon are cleared to proceed to the airport.
  • Transit Passengers: Those connecting through Dubai may proceed if their onward flight is confirmed as operating.
  • Airline Updates: Emirates has stated they are monitoring the situation closely and will adjust their flight schedules as needed.

Regional Tensions

While the physical damage is still being assessed, the geopolitical implications are significant. This strike marks a serious escalation in regional hostilities, directly targeting a global economic artery.

Security at DXB and other critical infrastructure points across the UAE has been placed on high alert as investigations into the launch site and the specific type of drone used continue.
