Starting October 1, 2017, Delta is bringing you free mobile messaging so you can stay in touch with friends, family, and colleagues while onboard.

Never miss an important conversation while on a Delta flight. Free Messaging will be available on Delta Wi-Fi enabled flights for use with iMessage, Facebook Messenger, and WhatsApp. Ensure that you have downloaded these apps before you fly, and that recipients of your messages have the apps downloaded as well.

A few things to know about Free Messaging on Delta:

It’s free. Purchase is not required, and messaging and data charges do not apply.

Download your apps before takeoff. Free messaging is available on all Delta Wi-Fi enabled flights for use with apps such as iMessage, Facebook Messenger, and WhatsApp on smartphones.
Words and emojis accepted. Sending photos, videos or SMS messages is not supported. On flights where Wi-Fi usage is heavier than normal, sending messages may take slightly longer.
