Irish Low-Cost Carrier Ryanair have further expanded their Bristol Winter 2016 schedule with a new route to Bucharest in addition to their 3 brand new winter services to Krakow, Milan and Venice. These new additions are set to deliver 1.7m extra passengers per year and support over 1,300 jobs at the airport.

The route to Bucharest will operate once per week with the 3 other services to operate between 2 & 3 times per week. Ryanair’s winter schedule for Bristol has 19 routes in total, with 69 extra weekly flights.

Ryanair’s Head of Communications, Robin Kiely said: “We are pleased to launch a new Bristol to Bucharest route with a weekly service, as part of our significantly expanded winter 2016 schedule, which also includes 3 new winter services to Krakow, Milan Bergamo and Venice Treviso and we look forward to continuing to grow routes, traffic and jobs in Bristol.”

Bristol Airport’s Head of Aviation, Pete Downes said: “We are delighted with the continued expansion of Ryanair’s network from Bristol Airport.  This new service to Bucharest will be the region’s first ever scheduled air link to Romania – a market which we hope will grow further over the coming years.  With over 50,000 people a year already travelling between our region and Bucharest having to make long and costly road journeys to access flights, this addition by Ryanair of a direct service will continue to make it easier for even more passengers to choose the convenience of flying locally from the South West’s favourite airport.”

Dr Razvan Constantinescu, Honorary Consul of Romania in Bristol said: “The launch of a direct route between Bristol and Bucharest could not have come at a more auspicious time for the business, tourist and academic communities across the South West of England and Romania.  The new Bristol-Bucharest route, is yet a further confirmation of the increasing interconnectedness between various British and Romanian areas of economic and cultural activity. British and Romanian travellers for business or leisure in the South West of England will now be able to fly directly to Romania without undertaking long and costly journeys via the London airport system.”
