The BBC Madrid correspondent, Tom Burridge, says on twitter that the Gibraltar border and airport as well as a nearby supermarket has been closed as the MOD begins to investigate a suspicious piece of luggage from easyJet flight EZY8902 to Gatwick airport.

Flight EZY8902 is scheduled to depart for Gatwick as late at 1500 local time (1400 UK Time)
