A Milan-bound Ryanair flight diverted in southern Germany late on Wednesday due to heavy turbulence from a thunderstorm.
The Ryanair flight FR8 departed Berlin Brandenburg Airport Wednesday and headed to Milano Malpensa Airport, Italy.
But while cruising at 36,000 feet the flight encountered severe turbulence from a thunderstorm while entering German airspace making the Boeing 737-800 to shake and climb to 36,450 feet.
As crew members immediately informed pilots about injured passengers, the aircraft (registration EI-EKN) was vectored to the nearby airport Memmingen about 115 km (70 miles) west of Munich where it landed 1 hour after departure.

Among the injured were a woman who sustained a head injury, her two-year-old toddler who suffered bruises and a 59-year-old woman complaining of back pain, police said. All three were treated in hospital, while other injuries were treated at the scene.
Ryanair said in a statement on Thursday that the flight’s captain had requested medical assistance ahead of landing. The airline added that a replacement flight had been arranged to take passengers to Milan and apologised to those affected.
