GLASGOW — Emergency services were placed on standby at Glasgow Airport this afternoon after a Jet2 flight from Palma de Mallorca declared a mid-air emergency during its descent.

Rapid Descent and Priority Landing

Flight LS190, operated by a Boeing 737-800 (registration G-JZBK), was nearing the end of its journey from Palma de Mallorca (PMI) when the crew transmitted a Squawk 7700 code—the international signal for a general emergency.

Aviation tracking data showed the aircraft initiating a rapid descent toward Glasgow (GLA). It is understood that the flight deck requested a direct approach to the runway to shave vital minutes off the arrival time.

Medical Situation Onboard

While Jet2 has yet to release an official statement, preliminary reports indicate the emergency was declared due to a medical incident involving a passenger on board.
