United Airlines flight #UA885 from Rome to Washington has declared an emergency.
The Boeing 777-200ER (registration N209UA) departed Rome Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport one hour late at 11:20 CEST.
The aircraft took off from runway 26 and climbed to 3,700 ft then entered a hold as the pilots noticed a technical issue with one of the engine and declared an emergency.
The crew requested an immediate return and landed on runway 16L only 28 minutes after departure according to RadarBox data.
The 24 years old plane is now out-of-service for repairs. A spare aircraft is supposed to arrive at Rome for a new departure at 16:15 CEST.
The flight was scheduled to last 9 hours and 45 minutes and a landing at 14:05 EDT at Washington Dulles International Airport.
