Jet2 flight from Bodrum to Glasgow diverted last night to Bulgaria.
After only 1 hour into the flight, Jet2 flight #LS124 was forced to divert to Sofia as passenger claimed there was bombs and weapons on board and tried to open the door at 34,000 feet.
A man traveling with his kids and wife claimed something wrong was happening when seeing two light signs turning off. He screamed and asked passengers if any saw it, claiming it was to signal cabin crew to detonate the bomb or get out guns.
An air hostess had to calm him down but just as she was doing that, someone next to him opened their crisps which popped because of the pressure.
The man was also saying that when the air hostess was scratching her face doing the safety stuff, signaling something to others. Then he tried to leap across 2/3 rows to get to the door to get out but 3 of the 4 air hostesses and 3/4 guys restraining him.
As the flight was diverting to Bulgaria, lots of kids were crying in tears.
Once the plane landed, the police boarded the airliner and arrested the man after he claimed there were some devices on board.
The man was probably under drug. A passenger told AIRLIVE he heard him saying to his wife that he had taken “half this morning then half this afternoon”.
The flight resumed and landed back in Glasgow in the early hours of this morning.
A spokesperson for Jet2 said: ‘Flight LS124 from Bodrum to Glasgow diverted to Sofia Airport last night, so that a disruptive passenger could be offloaded by police. After a short delay, the flight continued to Glasgow.
