The last three Air Berlin long-haul flights have landed at Düsseldorf Airport this morning. Flight #AB7001 from Miami was the very last arrival.
Air Berlin has suspended its long-haul operations today. The final long-haul departure from Düsseldorf Airport was flight #AB7008 to Fort Myers yesterday.
The last four operating routes were:
- DUS-New York JFK
- DUS-Miami
- DUS-Fort Myers
- DUS-San Francisco
The SFO route has been suspended yesterday.
Most other Air Berlin long-haul operations (including all from Berlin) have already ended on September 25th.
12 of 17 A330’s in Air Berlin’s long-haul fleet have returned to their lessors last month.
Air Berlin had filed for insolvency in August this year, after Etihad Airways ended their support for the airline.
The carrier is suspending all flight operations on October 28th. The final flight will be from Munich to Berlin on October 27th.
Many carriers (including Lufthansa, Eurowings and EasyJet) have announced replacement routes for Air Berlin flights.
Lufthansa and EasyJet will take over most Air Berlin aircraft.
