A flight from Rome to Philadelphia turned around before crossing Atlantic and diverted to London.
American Airlines AA9600 departed Leonardo da Vinci International Airport in Rome for a flight of 9 hours and 45 minutes.
The Boeing 787-9 (registration N830AN) departed late at 11:34 CET and climbed to 36,000 feet over France then flew to UK and Ireland before the crew decided to turn around.
The flight diverted to London Heathrow where it landed on runway 27L almost 4 hours after departure.
The airline confirms the diversion and now plans a takeoff from London at 3:53 PM.
