A Turkish Airlines flight bound for Los Angeles from Istanbul made an unscheduled diversion to Norway on Wednesday.
The aircraft, a Boeing 777-300ER registered TC-JJN, was operating as Flight TK9 when it diverted to Oslo Gardermoen Airport (OSL) during its transatlantic journey.
The flight departed Istanbul Airport (IST) earlier in the day at 14:19 TRT and had been scheduled to arrive at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) at 6:00 PM. Instead, it landed safely in Oslo, where emergency services were on standby as a precaution.
The Boeing aircraft resumed the flight later following the possible medical emergency.
The incident highlights the challenges of ultra-long-haul operations, where airlines must be prepared to reroute aircraft across multiple continents in response to unforeseen circumstances.
