Prior President Trump’s visit to his two luxury golf resorts in Scotland, an US Air Force C-17 has landed in Aberdeen.

President Trump will visit his two luxury golf resorts in Scotland, Trump International on the east coast of Aberdeenshire, which he bought in 2012, and Trump Turnberry in Ayrshire, about 200 miles away on the west coast, which he purchased in 2014.

The golf course was eventually approved and opened in 2012. Some of the grander aspects of the planned development, including 500 houses and a 450-room hotel, have not been realized, and the site has never made a profit.

A second 18-hole course at the resort is scheduled to open this summer. It’s named the MacLeod Course in honor of Trump’s mother.

US Air Force C-17 arrived from Palm Beach Thursday

Prior his visit, an United States Air Force Boeing C-17A Globemaster III, with registration 10-0220, departed West Palm Beach in Florida Wednesday at 21:04 EDT.

C-17 Globemaster III transport planes are used to carry a wide range of essential personnel, equipment, and logistics to support the presidential visit.

What C-17 planes typically carry before a U.S. presidential visit:

  1. The Presidential Motorcade:
    • Armored limousines (e.g., “The Beast”)
    • SUVs for staff, Secret Service, and press
    • Communications vehicles (such as Roadrunner and WHCA vans)
    • Counter-assault and tactical support vehicles
  2. Security and Communications Equipment:
    • Advanced secure communication systems
    • Jamming and surveillance equipment
    • Secret Service and military gear
  3. Marine One Helicopters (if needed):
    • When helicopter transport is required, CH-46 or VH-3D/VH-60N helicopters used as Marine One may also be shipped in parts and reassembled on-site.
  4. Staff and Support Teams:
    • Equipment and gear for White House staff, Secret Service, medical personnel, military aides, and logistics coordinators
  5. Backup Equipment:
    • Redundant systems to ensure continuity of operations in case of failure or attack

How many C-17s are used?

  • Typically 2 to 3 C-17s are deployed, depending on the scope of the visit and whether helicopters are involved.

But will it be a private visit in Scotland?

The American leader will meet British Prime Minister Keir Starmer near the end of his trip in Scotland, and the current 25% U.S. tariffs on British steel imports could be a focus of discussion.
