Air France flight AF136 departed Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport at 12:49 CEST Saturday, June 28 2025 for a flight to Chicago O’Hare International.
The Airbus A350-900 (registration F-HUVR) departed gate M48 at Terminal 2E, took off from runway 26R then climbed to 38,000 feet on normal route over UK.
At around 16:30 CEST, while flying over middle of Atlantic, between Iceland and Greenland, the crew decided to turn around.
The airline decided to make the flight AF136 to return to Paris due to operational reasons even the aircraft was already halfway between Paris and Chicago. It landed 6 hours and 37 minutes departure departure on runway 27R.
A passenger contacting AIRLIVE newsdesk was told the flight was not given authorization to land in Chicago.
Air France provided accommodation for passengers and rebooked on flight AF4080 departing Sunday at 14:20 CEST.
