A routine flight from Paris-Orly to Nice turned into a nightmare, after an ill passenger caused an evacuation and a deep clean of the aircraft.
NICE — Air France flight AF6212, originally scheduled to depart at 12:35 PM on Thursday, February 5, was delayed for over an hour after a “medical malaise” led to what witnesses described as a chaotic and stomach-turning scene.
A Rapidly Deteriorating Situation
According to “Noémie,” a passenger who spoke with Nice-Matin, the boarding process began normally around noon. However, the atmosphere shifted as the queue ground to a halt and flight attendants began to appear “panicked,” sparking immediate concern among those waiting to board.
The crew eventually revealed that a passenger, who was visibly unwell, had rushed toward the lavatories immediately after stepping onto the plane.
A Scene of “Distress”
The situation quickly escalated from a simple medical emergency to a sanitary crisis. According to reports, the ill passenger was unable to reach the facilities in time or suffered a severe episode that affected multiple areas of the Airbus A320’s cabin.
The passenger reportedly soiled the aisle and at least one other lavatory. Emergency services were called to the scene, and firefighters eventually evacuated the sick individual from the aircraft.

Air France Response
A spokesperson for Air France confirmed the delay, soberly attributing the disruption to a “customer falling ill on board.” While the airline used professional terminology, the reality for those on the tarmac was far more visceral, requiring a specialized cleaning crew to sanitize the cabin before the flight could finally depart.
The aircraft (registration F-GKXI) landed at NCE Airport at 15:15 CET, more than one hour behind schedule.
