A man boarded a British Airways flight at London Heathrow without a ticket, boarding pass or passport in a major security breach.
A significant security breach occurred at London Heathrow Airport (LHR) on Saturday morning when an unnamed individual managed to board British Airways flight BA768 bound for Oslo, Norway, without possessing a ticket, boarding pass, or passport.
The individual gained access to the 7:20 am flight by successfully tailgating other passengers and evading the final document checks at the departure gate. It is understood that the man, described by a passenger as a white male in his late 20s or early 30s, posed as a member of a family group passing through the final passport inspection point.
Detected by Cabin Crew
The intrusion was only detected after the man had fully boarded the aircraft. Cabin crew became aware of the unauthorized passenger because the flight was full, and the man repeatedly attempted to occupy other passengers’ seats, witnesses claim.
Investigation and Arrest
Upon detection, the man was arrested by authorities. According to airport sources, the man claimed he had successfully passed through “full security screening” prior to reaching the gate. Sources confirmed that the individual had indeed managed to tailgate his way through the main security checkpoint, meaning he was not found to be carrying any prohibited items.
Following the man’s arrest and removal from the plane, armed police conducted a search, scanning the seats where the man had been sitting and checking the overhead storage bins as a precautionary measure.
The incident has triggered a full review of security protocols at London Heathrow to determine how the unauthorized individual was able to bypass multiple checks and board an international flight undetected.
