Flag carrier of Bahrain to grow its all-787 widebody fleet for expanding international network.
Boeing and Gulf Air announced a significant agreement for the purchase of 12 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, with options for six additional jets, as the Bahrain-based carrier accelerates its fleet modernization and international expansion strategy.
The signing ceremony was attended by Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Minister of Finance and National Economy, and U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, alongside Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, and Khalid Taqi, Chairman of Gulf Air Group.
Gulf Air currently operates 10 Dreamliners and serves more than 50 international destinations. The airline plans to leverage the new widebody jets to expand service across Asia, Europe, and North America, further enhancing connectivity and network resilience.
From the delivery of its first DC-3 in 1961 to the advanced Dreamliners flying today, Gulf Air has taken delivery of 37 Boeing aircraft over the decades. The 787 Dreamliner continues to be the airline’s flagship for long-haul travel.
