A newly delivered A320neo experienced a severe incident at Vienna Airport, resulting in substantial damage past year.
An Austrian Airlines A320neo (registration OE-LZQ) collided with a passenger boarding bridge and a power mast on 6 April 2024, causing extensive damage to its structure during a towing operation.
The terrible mistake was very costly. The impact resulted in the complete detachment of the right horizontal stabilizer, damage to the fuselage, potential damage to the left horizontal stabilizer, and significant damage to the right wing.

Considering the severity of the damage, the possibility of the aircraft being declared a total loss was not ruled out.
Monday 17 March 2025, almost one year after the accident, the plane took the skies for a test flight.

The aircraft departed Vienna for a 3-hour flight. It climbed to 31,000ft before returning. It’s not yet scheduled to resume commercial operations.
