The Boeing 787-8 (registration G-ZBJF) climbed to 40,000 ft and flew over Ireland when the crew decided to turn around before crossing The Atlantic after one hour and 20 minutes into the flight.
The 10-year-old aircraft returned to London Heathrow two hours and 45 minutes after departure on runway 27L at 20:25 BST.
The flight was cancelled following a technical issue with the aircraft which is scheduled to perform flight BA229 to Baltimore, MD Saturday, September 14 2024.
