The Boeing 777-200ER (registration N79011) turned around after one hour into the flight due to a technical issue.
The flight departed from Terminal 2, gate B46 at 12:20 BST to Washington, now planned to return to London.
The airline is confirming AIRLIVE there is a technical issue on the plane.
