TUI flight to Sharm el-Sheikh returned to Manchester on Thursday, August 29 2024 due to a technical issue.
TUI flight #BY718 departed from Manchester at 15:30 BST and climbed to 35,000 ft over France on its way to Egypt.
The flight was operated by a Boeing 737-800 (registration G-FDZY) which is 12 years old.
The aircraft flew over France, Switzerland then Italy when the crew decided to turn over about more than 2 hours into the flight.
As passengers were told there had been a ‘technical issue’, the pilots descended to 10,000 ft altitude in order to burn more fuel and reduce to weight.
The plane then landed back in Manchester on runway 23R 4 hours and 13 minutes after takeoff according to RadarBox.
