BREAKING Delta A330 evacuated after right engine catches fire at Orlando Airport

A Delta flight was evacuated at Orlando Airport after right engine emitted flames during startup.

A Delta flight bound for Toronto was evacuated on the apron at Orlando Airport after flames shot from No.2 engine during startup.

The flight DL1213, which was preparing for departure, experienced an engine malfunction on start up. Flames erupted from the #2 engine shortly after pushback.

The incident prompted an immediate evacuation of the passengers via slides on left hand side of the aircraft.

At the moment of the fire incident, 282 passengers, 10 flight attendants, and two pilots were in the plane.

The aircraft (registration N807NW) was preparing for flight to Atlanta this Monday, April 21 2025. It has since been out of service and is undergoing insepection by maintenance crew.

The airline said “Out of an abundance of caution, the flight crew of Delta flight 1213 initiated an evacuation after observing flames from the aircraft(s engine during startup.”

Delta uses its A330 fleet to connect major U.S. hubs—such as Atlanta, Detroit, and Minneapolis/St. Paul—with key international destinations in Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
