British Airways flight BA293 declared pan pan following a smoke alarm in the cockpit.
British Airways flight #BA293 to Washington returned to London Heathrow this afternoon of Friday, August 9 2024 following an alarm in the cockpit.
The Airbus A380 (registration G-XLEH) climbed out of runway 27L to 27,000ft before the pilots contacted the ATC about an alarm in the cockpit.

The aircraft turned around after 40 minutes of flight between UK and Ireland and was vectored back to LHR where it landed on runway 27R 1 hour and 35 minutes after takeoff.
According to Airport Webcams, the crew declared ‘Pan Pan’ with Shanwick ATC due to a smoke warning.
The aircraft was met by fire trucks upon arrival due to the heavy landing.
