Delta flight from Boston to Rome had to return following a lightning strike after takeoff.
Delta Air Lines flight #DL112 departed Boston Sunday, August 4 2024 at 18:05 EDT on runway 22L to Rome, Italy.
The Airbus A330-200 (registration N831NW) suffered a lighting strike shortly after departure.
The aircraft climbed to 16,000 ft then requested a returned to BOS Airport. It turned around and landed back on the same runway only 1h30 later.
The flight was diverted back to Boston Logan International Airport “out of an abundance of caution” after the crew reported a lighting strike after departure.
