Climate activists from Last Generation disrupted Munich airport this morning by gluing themselves to the tarmac over a busy weekend.
Munich Airport faced significant disruption on Saturday morning when climate activists from the Last Generation movement breached the grounds and glued themselves to the tarmac in protest against climate policy.
According to spokesmen for the airport and the federal police, the airport was completely closed for security reasons.
The protest, which took place at the start of the Whitsun holiday, a peak travel period in Germany, affected around 60 flights and led to the diversion of 11 others.
After about two hours, one of the two runways was able to go into operation, and later the second runway as well.
