The northwest runway, which reopened yesterday, is currently not being used for landings until further notice.
The reason for this are reports from pilots about an increased number of damaged tires after landing.
Frankfurt Airport tweeted: The safety of our passengers and employees is of the utmost priority. All colleagues involved are working intensively to investigate the cause and solve the problem.
