With the beginning of Storm Malik bringing strong and gusty winds to the UK.
Manchester was hit with some very unstable conditions this after.
Winds out of the West North West gusting over 40 knots provided a challenge for crews operating into Manchester. Jet2 Boeing 737-800 G-JZHC operating LS810 from Malaga made its first approach around 13:40, this was aborted due to Windshear and the crew positioned for a second approach.
This second approach was more stable until the flare where the aircraft touched down firm on the right main gear, poorly time gusts caused the aircraft to bounce and roll, coming very close to a tailstrike before the pilot flying was able to arrest the descent and fly a safe go around, opting to divert to East Midlands where they landed safely.
