Spirit Airlines has decided to start hiring pilots and flight attendants next month becoming the first major US airline to hire new employees after almost a year.
As reported by the CNBS, the airline will resume training for new pilots and flight attendants as soon as next month hoping travel will rebound after the pandemic. Spirit Airlines CEO Ted Christie said:
“We’ll be a big hirer again. Growth in the airline industry is going to be at the leisure end, and we’re the primary server of that guest.”
“Vaccine deployment, lowering total Covid case numbers should lead to more confidence from the travelling public and a loosening of restrictions.”
Spirit Airlines avoided involuntary furloughs of unionized employees during the pandemic, as the government’s payroll support scheme protected most US airline employees.
