Brussels Airlines pilots union offer the management of the airline a “significant” reduction, up to 45%, of their working time and their salary, until 2023, which would allow savings of up to 100 million euros by 2023.
“By doing so, the proposed savings are sufficient to keep all the pilots and cabin crew on board” explain in an open letter the pilots who say they are following the example of their German and Austrian colleagues within the Lufthansa group.
The management of Brussels Airlines announced last week a restructuring plan which threatens up to 1,000 jobs (including 191 pilots and 470 cabin crew members) within the company, or 25% of the staff.
The pilots say they are convinced that their “solid and concrete” proposal will meet the demand for cost reduction from the management of Brussels Airlines and Lufthansa.
