Rome authorities said they will shut Ciampino airport and close the terminal at Fiumicino as Italy contends with a coronavirus outbreak.
As of Tuesday 17 March, at “Leonardo da Vinci” airport, Terminal 1 will be temporarily closed. All check-in procedures, security checks and baggage reclaim procedures will be carried out at Terminal 3, which remains in operation.
In addition, from Friday 14 March, the passenger terminal for scheduled flights from G.B. Pastine di Ciampino airport, will be closed. However, General Aviation activities, State Authority and cargo aviation activities will remain unchanged. The runways at both airports will remain fully accessible and will not undergo operational changes.
The passenger terminals at Fiumicino and Ciampino airports will resume normal operations as soon as the current state of emergency is over.
