Air France will announce a firm order of about 60 aircraft type A220 with options.
No major orders had been placed since 2011 by Air France. Some aircraft families, such as the A340 quadreactor or ATRs, are scheduled to be out of the fleet by 2020. Three leased A380s will also be returned to their owners at horizon 2020.
On Tuesday, the company’s board of directors is expected to confirm a firm Airbus 50-70 A220 order and a call option for other aircraft of the same type.
The next day, at the presentation of the group’s half-year results, its CEO, Ben Smith, will specify its strategy for the current fleet of 289 aircraft.
