Airbus and Bombardier have announced a partnership for the CSeries program
Airbus to acquire a 50.01% majority stake in Bombardier’s CSeries.
The aircraft manufacturers plan to reduce production costs through Airbus’ supply chain expertise and boost sales. Assembly and headquarters of the CSeries will remain in Quebec, Canada.
The Bombardier CSeries currently has 360 orders from 17 different airlines and leasing companies. Airbus predicts, that 6000 aircraft in the 100 to 150 passengers size will be needed over the next 20 years.
“With Airbus, we will be able to unlock the full potential of this remarkable aircraft and make it a commercial success, we’ll drive down production costs and accelerate sales.”, says Bombardier.
Airbus plans to build a CSeries final assembly line at its US plant in Mobile, Alabama, to serve American customers.
The US Commerce Departments 300% tariff on the CSeries will be lifted, when Airbus is building a production line in Alabama.
