PARIS — A United States Air Force heavy transport aircraft arrived at Paris Orly Airport (ORY) following an overnight trans-Atlantic flight, signaling the start of intense logistical preparations ahead of U.S. President Donald Trump’s upcoming diplomatic visit to France.
The Boeing C-17A Globemaster III, carrying registration number 07-7169, departed from Bangor International Airport (BGR) in Maine. The military transport jet completed a nearly six-hour crossing over the Atlantic Ocean before touching down in the French capital.
The arrival of the C-17A is part of the standard advance protocol for U.S. presidential travel, typically tasked with transporting heavy equipment, specialized vehicles, communication infrastructure, and security assets, including the presidential state car, known as “The Beast.”
President Trump’s European itinerary centers around the 52nd G7 Summit, which is being held in the lakeside French town of Évian-les-Bains. Because of its geographic location on the shores of Lake Geneva, the U.S. delegation and other world leaders are utilizing Geneva Airport (GVA) in neighboring Switzerland as their primary point of entry before transitioning to the summit venue.
Following the conclusion of the G7 talks, President Trump will travel to Paris. French President Emmanuel Macron has extended a highly anticipated, exclusive invitation to the U.S. President for a private, high-profile dinner at the historic Palace of Versailles. The event is designed as a symbolic nod to Franco-American relations, coinciding with the lead-up to the 250th anniversary of United States independence.
Security measures have already begun tightening around Paris and the border regions near Geneva as multinational security forces coordinate the logistical framework for the presidential visit.
