ZURICH, Switzerland – Air Force One departed Zurich International Airport late Thursday evening, carrying President Donald Trump back to Washington D.C. after a whirlwind, high-stakes appearance at the 2026 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos with a fuel stop to Shannon, Ireland.
The President’s departure marks the end of a trip defined by “America First” rhetoric, a dramatic aircraft malfunction, and a bold geopolitical push for the United States to acquire Greenland.
A Rocky Start and a Swift Return
The journey began with an unexpected detour on Tuesday when the primary Air Force One aircraft was forced to return to Joint Base Andrews just 30 minutes after takeoff due to a “minor electrical issue.” Undeterred, the President switched to a C-32 (a modified Boeing 757) and arrived in Zurich on Wednesday afternoon.
Despite the delay, the President’s arrival in the Swiss Alps immediately shifted the gravity of the forum. As the blue-and-white jet taxied onto the runway tonight, it carried a President who had once again dominated the global stage, leaving world leaders to grapple with his assertive new mandates.
Heading Home
As Air Force One climbs over the Atlantic, the President is expected to pivot immediately back to domestic policy. Upon his return to the White House, he is scheduled to push for a permanent ban on institutional investors buying single-family homes and a cap on credit card interest rates—proposals he signaled during his Davos address to highlight his “pro-worker” agenda.
