A US Air Force drone has crashed in South Romania.
A United States Air Force MQ-9 Reaper drone has crashed during a training mission south of the Romanian Air Force 71st Air Base in Campia Turzii, Romania.
At 14:15 (local time), the United States Air Force lost an MQ-9 Reaper drone three kilometers south of the 71st Air Base in Câmpia Turzii, Romania.
According to the Romanian Defense Minister Vasile Dîncu, the crash caused no injuries as the aircraft fell in a cornfield in an uninhabited area.
“[The USAF is] carrying out the initial investigation right now,” the Minister said, as reported by local media Observator. “We are also in contact with them, we will support them if needed.”
As of March 2021, there were 5 Reapers stationed in Câmpia Turzii. Speaking to Digi24, Romanian Minister of National Defense Vasile Dîncu said that the Reaper was on a training exercise when it crashed.
