Two RAF fighter jets had to make an emergency landing in Liverpool during the night.
Residents reported hearing a loud noise overhead around 1am today as the two RAF Typhoon jets were forced to land at Liverpool John Lennon Airport for an emergency fuel stop.
According to Liverpool Echo, it is thought the jets had set off from the RAF military airbase in Lossiemouth, Scotland and were on a routine operation but had to divert to Liverpool for urgent refueling possibly due to bad weather.
