Algiers, October 25, 2025 — A Saudia Boeing 777-300, operating flight SV340 from Algiers (ALG) to Jeddah (JED), encountered a bird strike shortly after takeoff on Saturday, October 25, 2025.
The aircraft, registered HZ-AK31, struck a flock of birds during its initial climb, impacting multiple areas including the nose radome, forward fuselage, landing gear, wheel wells, and wings, according to preliminary reports from airport officials and aviation sources.
Despite the encounter, the flight crew elected to continue the journey to Jeddah, where the aircraft landed safely without further incident. There were no injuries reported among passengers or crew.
A Saudia spokesperson confirmed that the aircraft was undergoing maintenance inspections in Jeddah to assess the extent of the damage. “The safety of our passengers and crew is our highest priority,” the airline stated. “Our engineering teams are conducting a detailed examination in line with international safety standards.”
