A LATAM Airlines Airbus A320 experienced a runway excursion after landing at Cascavel Airport in western Paraná on Monday.
CASCAVEL, Brazil — The aircraft, registered as PR-MYO, was operating flight LA3858 from São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport (GRU). According to preliminary operational reports, the flight crew entered a holding pattern prior to approach while awaiting an improvement in weather and airport conditions.
After completing the approach and touching down on Runway 33, the aircraft was unable to stop within the designated paved surface. The A320 continued past the end of the runway before coming to a stop in the grassy overrun area near the threshold.
Emergency response teams at Cascavel Airport were deployed to the site as a precaution. No initial details regarding passenger or crew injuries have been released, and local airport authorities have initiated an assessment of the runway conditions and the aircraft.
