San Diego International Airport halted all flights after a private Cessna Citation X’s front landing gear collapsed during landing around 6 PM.
San Diego, CA — A temporary ground stop at San Diego International Airport (SAN) was lifted Wednesday night after a Cessna Citation X aircraft experienced a landing gear malfunction during departure.
The incident occurred at approximately 7:18 p.m., prompting officials to halt all inbound and outbound flights. Inbound aircraft were diverted to alternate airports while outbound flights remained on the ground.
According to airport spokesperson Jonathan Heller, the private jet reported landing gear difficulties while attempting to take off. The aircraft came to a stop on the runway without injuries to those onboard but was disabled, forcing a full runway closure.
Emergency crews have responded, causing over 100 flight delays and diversions. By 9:23 p.m., the runway had been cleared and reopened, allowing normal flight operations to resume.
