A Qantas Airbus A380 was hit by an aerobridge resulting in damage to its engine cowling at Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport.
Qantas flight QF63 to Johannesburg, scheduled to leave Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport on Saturday, July 12, at 9:30 am, was forced to abort take-off preparations after the Airbus A380 made contact with the aerobridge during ground operations at the international terminal.
The Airbus A380 aircraft received damage to its engine cowling. “We’re investigating how an aerobridge made contact with the engine of one of our aircraft,” a Qantas spokesman said.

The Airbus A380-800 (registration VH-OQH) will be inspected by engineers in Sydney and repaired before returning to service.
The airline has rescheduled the 15-hour-long flight to depart at 6:30 am on Sunday, a 21-hour delay.
Swissport is contracted for ground operations to Qantas in Sydney.
