A Gulf Air flight, en route to Kuwait International Airport, received a bomb threat on June 8, 2025.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in Kuwait shared the news on its social media accounts, along with photos taken after the plane was thoroughly inspected.
In a statement, the DGCA explained that the threat report was swiftly handled in line with security protocols at Kuwait International Airport. The authorities coordinated closely with the Ministry of Interior and other relevant agencies.
The DGCA confirmed that the flight landed safely, and all standard security measures were put into action. Passengers were immediately disembarked from the aircraft for further safety procedures.
The DGCA, working in cooperation with security authorities, also reported that the individual responsible for the threat has been apprehended, and appropriate actions have been taken against them.
Abdullah Al-Rajhi, the official spokesperson for the DGCA, reassured the public that all passengers are currently in a designated isolated lounge and are in good health, with no adverse effects from the incident.
He further explained that security procedures are being conducted on all passengers, in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior and the DGCA, to ensure the safety of the passengers, crew, and airport, as well as to verify the aircraft is free of any threat.
The spokesperson also emphasized that no other flights at Kuwait International Airport were disrupted as a result of the incident.
After thorough checks, it was confirmed that there were no explosives on board the aircraft.
In conclusion, the spokesperson expressed appreciation for the cooperation of all relevant authorities and reiterated the DGCA’s ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and security of air travel in Kuwait.
