A KLM A330 to Houston returned to Amsterdam shortly after takeoff this morning.
KLM #KL661 departed Amsterdam Schiphol this morning on time at 09:56 CET for a 10-hour flight to Houston, Texas.
The Airbus A330-200 (registration PH-AOA) departed form runway 24 but stopped the climb at only 6,000 ft due to a technical issue.
The crew contacted ATC and immediately requested to return to AMS Airport.
The 19-year-old aircraft landed back on runway 18R only 40 minutes after departure.
Fire trucks escorted the plane back to the gate as pilots didn’t have enough time to dump/burn fuel enough before the heavy landing.
