A Jetstar A320 made an emergency landing at Chubu Airport near Nagoya following a bomb threat.
Jetstar Japan Airbus A320 (reg. JA14JJ) operating flight #GK501 from Tokyxo NRT to Fukuoka, safely diverted to Nagoya Chubu Centrair Airport, Japan following a bomb thread.
The plane, which was carrying 136 passengers and six crew members, took off from Narita Airport in Chiba Prefecture, and had been bound for Fukuoka.
Investigators said a phone call from Germany had been received at an information center at Narita Airport around 6:20 a.m., with the caller, believed to be a man, claiming in English to have put 100 kilograms of plastic explosives in the aircraft’s cargo hold.
Sources said the caller demanded to speak with the “manager,” though it was unclear who he was referring to.
According to a passenger, less than an hour after takeoff, there was an in-flight announcement that the plane would make an emergency landing. Upon touchdown, another announcement was made to say a bomb may have been planted inside the plane.
