The aircraft, with 146 passengers aboard, landed at about 9:35 a.m. Tuesday and was followed across the airfield by fire trucks. In a statement released Tuesday afternoon Delta said the crew of Flight 2116 made the decision to abort the flight after a potential systems issue was observed. The plane was put into a holding pattern to burn off fuel before pilots landed the aircraft without incident and taxied to the gate under its own power.
The exact nature of the problem was not immediately known.
Delta is currently working re-book customers while technicians examine the aircraft.
