Three Frecce Tricolori jets were involved in an accident at Pantelleria airport .
On May 6, 2025, three MB-339 aircraft from the Italian Air Force’s Frecce Tricolori aerobatic team were involved in a mid-air collision during the Pantelleria Airshow on the island of Pantelleria, Italy.
Video footage shared online shows one aircraft making contact with two others during the formation flight. Despite the collision, all three pilots were able to land their jets.
Two aircraft sustained significant tail damage, and a third veered off the runway during an emergency landing.
No serious injuries were reported, though one pilot was taken to the hospital with a suspected leg fracture. The aircraft involved were numbers 6, 8, and 9.
Commercial flights to and from Pantelleria, including DAT services to Palermo and Trapani, were temporarily delayed due to the incident.
